Location
This photo was taken in Jamaica during our vacation. Before going for our trip, I checked with a Jamaican friends on the spot I have to visit and to take photos. YS Fall was mentioned and highly recommended. Although the trip took us 5hrs to reach, we were awarded with this wonderful scene,Time
This was taken September 4, 2018 around 3PM. We arrived late in the day and we were informed that swimming is not allowed due to rain and the volume of water. That comes as a blessing to shoot without any tourist around and the fall is just full of water.Lighting
The lighting is natural. I did a bit of contrast adjustment on the photo to enhance it a bit.Equipment
The camera used is Canon 5D Mark2, Lense - 24-105mm F/4L, Tripod. For this shot, the focal length used is 85mm.Inspiration
Seeing a beautiful nature like this is amazing and I have to capture it the way it is. This is what I like about photography. It freezes the time and records what you witness at the time. This frame will remind me of our Jamaican trip.Editing
Yes, I did a bit of post-processing using Lightroom. I have my own in-camera settings for landscape shots i.e. contrast, exposure compensation etc. the way I like the shots to be. In Lightroom, I added more contrast, pull down the highlights, did some dodging and burning to bring out good contrast,In my camera bag
Depending on what I plan to shoot. For landscape and portraits, I use Canon 5D Mark 2, 24-105mm F/4L, 16-35mm F/4L. I would use 100mm F2.8 L and 70-200mm F2.8 for portraits. Tripod is a must for landscape and nature shots. I use flash sometimes for portraits but I would prefer natural light if I can. I have my ND filters and CP filter as well if I plan to shoot seascape.Feedback
With this shot, I was very lucky to be there at the right time. The day is cloudy which makes the shadow not so harsh and the light distribution is just right. To make this shot more intentional, I would check the lights in the early morning and late afternoon. You really have to spend time to capture the scene at its lighting condition.
