NAIDOC: National NAIDOC Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee
ATSI: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is celebrated in the Indigenous communities and also in increasing numbers of government agencies, schools, local councils and workplaces. The cultural and educational activities are a good way for the ATSI peoples to engage with the wider Caucasian community and participate together in a range of interesting and fun activities and to show support to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
