Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near the town of Caledon in the western Cape of South Africa, in the fields where wheat is grown, after harvesting there is always some seeds left over and many different types of birds gather to search for leftovers. Blue Cranes are omnivorous.

Time

I was driving along a dusty road near farmland, it was around midday when I noticed a few Blue Cranes in the distance, I continued until I found myself close to area where they were feeding and managed to take a few pictures.

Lighting

It was a bright day with not a cloud in sight.

Equipment

I used a Cannon Powershot SX30 IS camera, no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

My inspiration comes from my surroundings, I love nature.

Editing

No processing.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my camera and a spare fully charged battery at all times.

Feedback

Because of digital photography one can capture as many pictures as you want, download and process what you like and delete the ones you don't want. I am always on the look out for natural scenes in nature. I remember how much it cost me more than 20 years ago, long before digital photos came into being for the amateur photographer, a person had to be careful of wasting expensive film on bad photos, now it's so easy.
