Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at paper mill lock in Essex. I am a self taught photographer, who is occasionally lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

Time

This kingfisher was a regular at the lock and usually chose the same tree to fish from. This was taken early afternoon.

Lighting

I was luck enough to have a sunny day for this shot.

Equipment

This shot was originally taken with my Fujifilm bridge camera. Hand held, whilst resting on the wall of a bridge.

Inspiration

I love nature and wild life, to see a kingfisher just sitting there and for me to be lucky enough to get this shot, was like a dream come true.

Editing

I did a small amount of photo shop adjustments as it was not a clear as I would have liked.

In my camera bag

I now carry an Olympus OMD and various lenses in my bag, having retired my well used bridge camera. My tripod is not always to hand and the lack of it has sometimes resulted in less than perfect shots.

Feedback

I am still learning and practicing and I still consider myself a beginner, so I would not dream of advising others. All I would say is keep your eyes open when you are out and about, because it is surprising the things you will see when you least expect them. My greatest disappointment was seeing a Barn Owl less than 10 ft away when I didn't have a camera with me to capture the shot.
