I took this photo in Montpelier, VT at a nude bike event. I had organized the ride and this was a returning bike rider. Funny we both share the same last name. She was very happy to not only be in the ride by free of her clothes. Her happy face and smile made my photo a winning one if I had entered a contest or not.Time
The ride took place in the afternoon to let people that were in the ride time to get to the meeting place. This was about 12:30 or so because the ride took place from 1-3:00.Lighting
It was a bright sunny day and if she stood in the sunlight the photo would have been very bright so she stood in the shadow of the building. The building served as the background, which was plain and kept my subject centralized.Equipment
I shoot with a Pentax K 10D with an extra battery mounted under the camera. On this day, because of the bike ride, I was hand-holding my camera to get in the shots from the ride. My lens, on the camera, is a Sigma 28~200mm. I shoot with that lens most of the time.Inspiration
What inspired me to take this shot was the smile on her face. I could see she was very happy to be where she was and looking forward to the bike ride.Editing
I didn't do much for post-processing other than cropping and cloning out a sign that was behind her to make the background without distractions. I wanted to capture her mood at the time and cropping down to this level I believe captured it.In my camera bag
In my camera bag I carry two Pentax camera's. My K10d and a Pentax *ist as backup. The backup camera has a 14~50mm lens on it just in case I want wide angle shots.Feedback
My advice to others would be to always look for pictures in your mind before taking the shot. Not only at the subject but the whole picture. Backgrounds are just as important as your subject.
