Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on a vacation in the Bahamas. It had been a particularly stormy night and I had missed the sunrise the day before and it was one of my goals for that trip.

Time

This was very early into the sunrise, probably 5am or just before. I had woken up around 3:30 to pack up and make it out to the beach for this shot.

Lighting

I had a feeling it was going to be nice due to the storms overnight, but really had no idea the colors would do the things they did.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D7200 and a Gorilla Pod buried in the sand with a remote shutter.

Inspiration

I had taken a walk down the beach and seen these swings, the tide was pretty out so they were just in the sand. But I knew at some point they would be submerged.

Editing

Just some light Lightroom work moving the sliders around a bit, no masks or anything.

In my camera bag

Nikon D7200, F100, Sigma 18-35mm 1.8, Nikkor 50mm 1.8, and some batteries and extra film and SD Cards. I only bring tripods and lights if I have to for a specific reason.

Feedback

Make sure your lens is defogged first. Those tropical temperature shifts can potentially cost you the shot.
