Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Mt Evans, Colorado, US on 7 July 2019.

Time

Taken at approximately 11am. We started out early and drove from Colorado early that morning. While it was close to midday, the light was not too harsh and the clouds in the blue sky reflected in the lake, despite the gentle ripples in the water.

Lighting

Despite being close to midday, the light was not that harsh. No flash or artificial lighting was used. The clouds created the drama above the still lake.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7500 fitted with an 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. No tripod or artificial lighting was used in making this photo.

Inspiration

This was my first trip to visit the US and I enjoyed the scenery on Mt Evans. As we walked along the path, I suddenly realised that the scene incorporating the lake, clouds in a blue sky was not to be missed!

Editing

Yes, a limited amount of post processing - I reduced the hi lights to -57, increased the shadows to +88 and tweaked the whites to +22

In my camera bag

My Nikon D7500, 18-270mm zoom lens, 50mm prime lens, lens cloths, blower, spare battery and spare SD cards.

Feedback

Give it your best shot (pun intended) but also pause to absorb the wonders of nature.
