The walk along the river from Bolton Abbey is delightful at any time of year. This shot was taken in February when the Wharfe was in spate. A nervous shot because the rocks were slippery and I was always aware of the fact that The Strid, the name given to this spot where the river passes through its narrowest point, has claimed many lives over the years. Some bodies were never recovered as there are many underwater caves and hollows deep down.
