I created this black and white macro photo of an invertebrate animal commonly called a snail. They are gastropods and while most are normally relatively small some can grow quite large. Gastropods that naturally lack a shell, or come with only an internal shell, are mostly called slugs, and land snails that have only a very small shell (that is too small to retract into) are often called semi-slugs. These small animals are often an overlooked and intrinsic part of nature that frequently hides in plain sight right in your own backyard.
