A little levitation photography at Portchester Castle, Southern England.
Based loosely on Banksy's "Ballon Girl" idea and driven by my love for creative outdoor portraiture.
You are right in thinking that selective colour is an anathema to most; but, for this project I decided to grit my teeth and stand by my choices. I hope you enjoy it.
Getting this shot is a story in itself: The original idea was to shoot the model "floating" above the sea on the other side of the castle. Once everything was ready I jumped in and positioned the camera. The strength of the under current and small bumps from waves hitting the tripod legs meant a sharp image was not on the cards. So, we carried all our kit (including a decorating ladder for the model to stand on) through a famous and quite busy English Heritage site to the outer walls of the Castle's Keep you see here. Quite strong winds created a few "moments" on top of the ladder for my wonderful model (who lost a shoe into the moat). Of course the wind didn't have an effect on me you'll be glad to here but I did retrieve the shoe - getting soaked again in the process ;)
