Lol! There was a small open vehicle, a little closer to the boulder that he was on....and I thought that if he thinks what you said, and that he jumps, he would get them first giving us time to get out of there! Bad!! hahaha!! Thank you and thanks for commenting!! : )

He's pretty 'cool' - no doubt about that! An interesting face indeed and quite tolerant of the flies. Not a lot of choice with the flies I guess. Great shot Pamela.

I am wondering what kind of focal length you used for this photo, Pamela. I am also wondering if this beast was tranquilised... or maybe sated having feasted on an antelope? Who knows? Great photo!

Thank you!!, and thanks for the nice comment. This photo was taken in the late morning. My guess is they "ate" in the early, early morning hours, because they are cleaned up / no blood on their mouths. It is hard to see at the angle of the photo, but the male has a wound on his left forehead. Our guide told us that the males fight for the right to mate with the female, and she was also lying on the boulder not too far from the male. Lions mate about every 20 - 30 minutes, for up to 3 to 4 days. So yes, he does look tired, this may have been day 4? Lol! Our vehicle was wedged between large boulders and we were almost eye level with the lions....it was quite a thrill!! I was using a Nikon 80-400 mm lens and my settings were 1/320 sec at f 8 ISO 200 at a focal length of 380mm. : )
