"Depression"
After being diagnosed with severe depression earlier this year & having to try numerous medications, not only to find something that helped mentally but also a medication that would work with the biological medication I'm taking for Crohn's disease, it would be fair to say that 2018 is being a challenge thus far. However my doctor has been keen to encourage me to keep up with my photography, not easy when there's large portions of time when for either or both illnesses I can't even leave the house!
Sooooo, I decided that I would try to convey the feeling's & emotions that I'm experiencing, not in a series of photographs, no that would be far to easy lol, in one photograph. Now I don't expect everyone that has experience of long term illness & or depression to agree with my work. We all will have different experiences & challenges that will influence us. It's my experiences & daily challenges that have influenced this work. Now, just for the h&s brigade, I will say, I don't advise anyone else to go wandering around in 150 year old collapsing storm drains. But you can put your hi-vis vest & clipboard away, I did have an escape route & lots of confined space working experience, so calm down there!!????????
The photo itself is made up of 4 images merged together, each individual shot being exposed differently to create one correctly exposed image. The lighting was very hi-tec, 3 torches with coloured paper, no expense spent!
So here you go, a rare glimpse inside my head...
Aim for the gold & I'll get to sit under the tree again!! ????
