This is a baby Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola). It looks like it came out of the movie Alien. The adults average weight is between 545 and 2,205 lbs. It looks like a big fish head with fins. They love to eat jellies. The female can produce around 300 million eggs at a time. They putter around at about 2 mph and can dive up to 2,000 ft. This photo was taken while whale watching out of Moss Landing CA.
