Hallo Bay in Katmai National Park, Alaska.Time
2.10 pm on the 22.7.2018Lighting
It was a bit overcast and raining which was a challenge.Equipment
A Nikon D750 and a Nikon F 5.6 200-500 mm lens on a Monopod and an Aquatec Rain cape.Inspiration
I have always wanted to photograph Bears in the wild and went to Alaska to Brooks Falls, Hallo Bay and Lake Clarke . I got the shots i wanted and loads more and had an unforgettable trip.Editing
I'm not into doing loads of post process but i used lightroom which is enough to deal with any high ISO that you get and the associated noise!!! Basic adjustments of contrast,Highlights, saturation ,shadows and sharpening. No objects removed or added to the image. In my camera bag
I normally have my Nikon F4 300 mm, F5.6 200-500 mm(my go to lens) and a Nikon 3.5-5.6 18-200 mm ( for landscapes). A D750 and a D7100 body. A monopod and Rain cape.Feedback
Go to Alaska , it's a truly beautiful unspoilt wilderness and a great place to see bears in the wild. The light there is clear and free of dust and pollution and a photographer's heaven. Bear viewing is expensive BUT worth every penny in my opinion.A mind blowing experience with nature.
