Location
This image was taken on holiday in France. My wife and I were visiting the Donjon in Bourgogne (Burgundy) where a medieval fair was being held. This included a display by Birds of prey. I took this as the birds were resting g prior to the display. I had to capture this magnificent raptor.Time
I remember it being in the afternoon of a dull day and also having g to take the shot quickly as there were lots of people jostling for a good look.Lighting
I had to use natural light and set the camera up accordingly.Equipment
I used a Nikon D5500 body with a Nikkor 70 - 300mm lens handheld. This allowed me to stand further from the Owl and not cause it too much disturbance. It was aware of my as you can tell by the eyes.Inspiration
I was intrigued by the eyes and its awareness of the surroundings.Editing
Cropped and sharpened in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I now use a Nikon D7500 body usually with a Sigma APO 70 - 210 lens which allows me to shoot landscapes and wildlife. I am retired so don't spend too much on lenses. So I use kit lenses plus the Sigma lens.Feedback
If you see the shot take it but preplan as much as possible. So use 'I Am Shooting' as a mantra ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed to decide on settings. I tend to set up for wildlife shots so often have a reasonably fast shutter speed. Animals and birds move landscapes less so.
