We were out on our boat and happened upon a family of loons! We got close enough for me to capture this shot because they did not dive down right away since their baby was on the surface still!

Location
I took this photo on White Sand Lake in Baxter, MN. My family and I were enjoying a nice evening boat ride and happened upon a family of loons on the water. We were able to get closer because the mother and father loon did not dive down due to having their baby with them on the water. As we got closer to them the father loon used his protective instincts to create this memorable shot!Time
Evening about 5-6 pmLighting
Because it was during the evening the sun had begun to reflect beautifully on the water so the reflection of the loon in the water was very clear and pristine at that time of day!Equipment
Cannon Powershot 50Inspiration
I loved seeing the father loon protect his family and I wanted to capture it!Editing
I cropped the photo and enhanced the color a little if I remember correctly. In my camera bag
I usually carry my camera, charger, and lens cloth in my camera bag.Feedback
Pay attention and be proactive about catching amazing moments. Don't be afraid to take the shot before you think everything is perfect and in place. Natural occurrences sometimes happen and make for the best captures ever!
