This image was taken at a local summer fair, the car was part of a small classic car display.Time
This is a favourite image of mine and highlights the truth of the statement that the best camera you have is the one you have with you, having taken this on an iPhone. This was taken around mid-morning, with the luck of having a beautiful sky with some lovely cloud formations. I was drawn by the reflections of the sky on the car, it having been polished for the show. The Morris Minor is also hugely popular and collectible.Lighting
The lighting is natural daylight, no flash was involved, the sun is rising to to the right. I processed the image with Snapseed, correcting white balance, highlights and shadows and removing a telegraph pole.Equipment
The image was simply taken handheld on an iPhone, with me kneeling on the ground.Inspiration
I like old cars, this was a beautiful day and I loved the reflections of the sky on the bonnet. I am also a fan of these cars which seem to have a unique character, this one having been cleaned and polished to perfection.Editing
I used the Snapseed App to reduce the highlights to make the clouds sharper, and then altered the white balance correcting the colour of the grass and the car, also making the sky bluer. As I mentioned above, I also removed part of a telegraph pole.In my camera bag
Normally I carry a Nikon Z7, 24-70mm, 14-30mm, and 105mm macro lenses. I occasionally carry a 70-200mm f2.8 lens, which is quite heavy to carry. I always have a remote release and a set of ND graduated filters, a Lee Little Stopper and a circular polariser. I also have a Nikon F6 and still shoot some 35mm film.Feedback
Use the weather conditions to your advantage and on bright days keep your subject at 90 degrees to the sun. Try getting down low, as a different viewpoint that we would not normally see appears to attract more viewers and intrigue.
