Bactrocera is a large genus of tephritid fruit flies, with more than 500 species currently described. Wikipedia. Many species have highly-patterned wings used by males for courtship and may also be defensive. Larvae feed on fleshy fruits and vegetables of plants in many families. Many spp. are considered commercial pests. Pictures taken at my home today.
