Location
This image was made in one of my favorite places, Stanley Lake, Idaho.Time
Around the end of the morning golden hour was when I was satisfied with the location for this panorama.Lighting
I wanted the remaining band of ice to be fully lit for maximum reflection, but the rest of the scene in golden morning light, so timing was very important.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D7100, 16-85 lens, on a Manfrotto tripod with a custom pan head.Inspiration
I was drawn to this image by the contrasts between the last hint of winter ice in a scene of warm summer splendor.Editing
Other than stitching the images together in lightroom there is not much processing. In my camera bag
The equipment I carry depends on the expectations. At least I carry a D800 and all purpose zoom. If I expect wildlife I also carry a D500 and 150-600 and a tripod.Feedback
Scout the area, look for contrasts, think about the best lighting angles and times, then plan and execute the image.
