Location
This photo was taken after a polo game at Lion Castle Polo Field in Barbados in 1915.Time
It is one of my favourite photos. She had just finished a chukka and was getting hosed down. The sun was slowly setting and the lighting was just perfect. She was thoroughly enjoying her shower.Lighting
It was just perfect!Equipment
Canon 1DX with a Canon 400mm f/2.8L lens on a monopod. No flash. Just natural lighting.Inspiration
The way she was standing and the sunlight on the water as she was sprayed with the hose.Editing
The only post-processing I do is usually crop, slightly adjust the levels and sharpen. That's it!!In my camera bag
I usually shot polo so I only carried my Canon 1DX and my Canon 400mm f/2.8L lens. If I have to shoot presentations I would also carry my Canon 5D Mark III with my Canon 24-105mm f/4L and Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT flash. And of course extra batteries!!Feedback
Polo is a great game to photograph but dangerous. When you see all the muscles in the horse and if you have a fearless polo player leaning off to get the ball, you can get amazing shots. The horses alone are amazing! You should always make sure you see the ball to avoid getting hit with it and keep an eye on the horses. However, if a horse or horses come close to you it is better not to move as the horse will see you and avoid hitting you......usually!!
