Location
The image was taken from a spot close to a small hut on the Tour de Mont Blanc Trail. I've spend seven days to walk around these amazing mountain shapes.Time
I took this image in the middle of the night. To many people were snoring, so I decided to take a look outside and check the conditions for a milky way shot.Lighting
I waited 2 hours to get the moon and the milky way in position. The moon gave me enough light to outline the the top of Mont Blanc. Still, there was enough darkness to point out the milky way as main subject.Equipment
This shot was taken with my Pentax K-1 (focal length 15mm).Inspiration
I always wanted to take a shot of the milky way bow. The Mont Blanc offers perfect conditions for such a shot: Impressive mountain peaks, darkness and not to many tourists.Editing
I had to take several vertical shots for a panorama to capture the whole milky way. The rest of the shot is a regular lightroom editing to preserve the original character of the image. In my camera bag
I always take my tripod, my Pentax K-1, three lenses (wide, 77mm and tele photo) and a few filters with me.Feedback
It is really important to find a really dark place without any light pollution. If you are planning to capture the milky way, take your time, do some research for the perfect location and always keep the weather forecast and the season in mind.
