Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Slieve League Cliffs in Donegal Co. Ireland. It was the most magical trip of a lifetime and afforded this amatuer photographer the most amazingly beautiful photo opportunities!

Time

This was late afternoon around 5:00 pm. This is a little off the beaten path and we made a wrong turn or two, so it was quite a drive getting there. We made one detour to a hidden gem of a beach, Silver Strand, that was well worth diverting for. We arrived at Sleeve League later than expected but the time spent getting there was well worth the reward of this magnificent view.

Lighting

The late afternoon sun made for perfect lighting on the rugged cliffside. The ocean breeze and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below made this a most extraordinary experience.

Equipment

My trusty Samsung Galaxy 7 was all that was needed to capture the raw beauty of this majestic landscape.

Inspiration

I am always looking for opportunities to showcase the natural beauty all around us. From lichen growing on a hardwood stump, to the majesty that is the Slieve League Cliffs, it is all relevant to me. This trip to Ireland and Scotland, was a dream come true first this photographer.

Editing

No. This place is really just that beautiful.

In my camera bag

I have a Nikon digital, but it was too big for this trip. It was a two week trip with multiple fights and we had to travel light. So the Samsung was it.

Feedback

Visit Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye in Scotland, and travel the Wild Atlantic way in Ireland and you will find it is almost impossible to take a bad picture. Just look first unusual sight angles and approaches to make your shots unique. Early evening lighting worked well for me as dome of my best shots were taken during this timeframe.
