Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at the edge of a lake in Centennial Park in Nashville, TN.

Time

It was taken around noon. I was very excited to see such a tiny turtles in the lake and I wanted to show how small it was by waiting for a turtle to go by a snail. They were absolutely adorable!

Lighting

In this case, I was lucky that the light was in the right place since I didn't know about the turtles in the lake. Any later or earlier in the day and the image would have been too dark.

Equipment

This was taken with a hand held Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40.

Inspiration

I love nature and I was really taken with the tiny turtles and I wanted to have a record of their existence.

Editing

No post-processing was performed on the photo. I prefer my photos to be as authentic as possible (i.e., the image you see is what I saw).

In my camera bag

If I am intentionally going out to take photos and I know that I might need to capture something fast moving, then I will pack my Nikon D3500 with a 70-300mm lens and I also carry Canon powershot SX740 HS as my multipurpose camera and as a backup. I also carry lens cleaners just in case.

Feedback

Have patience if you are looking to get the right shot and have your camera ready so that when the right moment arrives, you can capture it. In this photo I had to wait and hope for a turtle to go by the snail so I could take the photo.
