Location
This photo was taken on the Antarctic peninsula when I cruised there over Christmas 2017/18. It was the best time to see the penguin chicks.Time
We landed on the Antarctic peninsula in the morning. As there were a number of tender boats going, we were allocated a time slot of 1 hour 30 mins, to go and explore. Our boat dropped us on the Antarctic peninsula about 10AM.Lighting
I was lucky to get nice weather in Antarctica. We had no choice as to what time we went ashore, however, the light at the time of landing was nice and relatively soft.Equipment
This was shot using my Canon 80D with a telephoto 100-400 sigma lens. No equipment was used. It was hard to take much other than your camera on and off the tender boats that took us ashore.Inspiration
In Antarctica, the scenery and wildlife are so amazing that I took thousands of photos. I was so lucky to be able to capture this gentoo penguin feeding the chicks. It is one of my favourite photos.Editing
I didn't do too much. I cropped the image a little and increased the saturation slightly. In my camera bag
My trusty Canon 80D with my main go-to lens, 18-300mm. I find this lens useful when I am travelling, which I love to do as regularly as possible. Otherwise, it depends what I am shooting, for wildlife I use a 100-400 telephoto. I take a wide-angle lens if I am shooting landscapes.Feedback
Save up and go to Antarctica, it truly is the most amazing bucket list experience you will ever have. The wildlife and scenery there is amazing.
