The image was shot in my front garden. I used a gobo above the image and a black backdrop. Then used photoshop to change the backdrop color and remove some of the green leaves.Time
Mid/late morningLighting
Shooting news/sports/concerts I'm so used to shooting without artificial lighting and using natural light.Equipment
Believe it or not, I used an Olympus 3030z point and shoot on a tripod. The camera is 3.34 mpeg. no flash. Self timerInspiration
After chasing ambulances for several years, shooting flowers/botanicals is a source of catharsis for me. It started after shooting a crash victim whose head went through his windshield. It happened in the 80s about three houses from my home at 1 AM. I ran up the street and arrived just as a cop was pulling up. Using a 70-200 2.8 as I started shooting and as I was shooting he lifted his head and looked at me, blood streaming down his face. I stopped chasing ambulances after that.Editing
Used photoshop as listed above. In my camera bag

Now that we have digital, shoot a lot. OR get a film camera and a 50mm lens and shoot with it. This will train you to see more critically and not just hold down the shutter button shoot 20 frames and hope you got something usable. (Try that with a 4x5 view camera ????)
