The patchwork leaf-cutter (Megachile centuncularis) is a solitary bee. Fascinating to watch, she tests several leaves till she finds one to her liking then cuts out a perfect semi-circular disc. She collects many of these 'patchwork' discs, which she glues together with saliva to line her nest-hole and build cells in which her larvae will live.
