The Army Film and Photographic Unit was a subdivision of the British armed forces set up on 24 October 1941, to record military events in which the British and Commonwealth armies was engaged. During the war, almost 23 percent of all AFPU soldiers were killed in action; the AFPU was disbanded in 1946.
At the beginning of June, 2018 a display way held with a large convoy of hundreds of WWII era vehicles on the Saunton Sands beach where American G.I.s practiced their beach invasions. Armed with multiple 35mm cameras, as well as a small, portable 8mm camera I attempted to document the events of that weekend by setting up with British, American, and German troop reenactors.
