This Snail Kite just plucked his apple snail from the freshwater wetlands near Punta del Este, Uruguay. The Snail Kite’s northern distribution limit reaches Southern Florida and the southern limit in the American continent is in Northern Argentina. Their diet is restricted to the apple snail - the Limpkin also eats apple snails as their favorite foods. I've seen both species in the same locations with their food supply.
