Location
This photo was taken at the Butterfly Ridge which is a sort of butterfly preserve. The people that created this "preserve" had the land and weren't using it so cleared it and planted flowers and trees and bushes that attract butterflies. It's in the Hocking Hills area, in Ohio.Time
It was around mid morning.Lighting
The lighting is natural, no enhancements.Equipment
Canon T6 camera with a 70-300mm lens. No flash or tripod. When shooting fast moving objects I never use a tripod because I would not be able to focus fast enough.Inspiration
The new place the Butterfly Ridge had just opened to the public. Our camera club went there on a field trip so I was excited to see lots of butterflies and take lots of wonderful pictures.Editing
I may have cropped it a little and darkened it but that is all.In my camera bag
Canon T6 camera, zoom lens, 50mm lens and extra batteries. I also carry a Sony point and shoot camera.Feedback
Patience. Butterflies are hard to capture unless you are someplace where there are lots of them and you can concentrate on one subject for a long time.
