Location
This was taken in Amargosa Valley, just east of Death Valley and south of Area 51 in Nevada.Time
The shot was taken at around 6:00pm ,close to Sunset after a stormy afternoon, perfect time to work,by the way .Lighting
The lighting is all natural, part of the process is finding the moment,I watched this spot for about 5 minutes , once I spotted it.Equipment
My camera of choice is a Nikon 7200 ,lenses are usually either a 50mm 1:8 or a 70/300mm 2:8 , I honestly don't remember which this was ,but I think it was the 300mm.Inspiration
The sky has always been one of my favorite subjects, add to that storm clouds and the glow from the sun and how could you not make this shot .Editing
No, this shot is definitely "What you see is,what you get". Sometimes the best thing to do is make the best shot you can and let the camera do its job . Our whole value as a photographer is the ability to find the moment and save it for the world to see, since everyone cannot possibly be there !In my camera bag
As I have said,I prefer Nikons, personally, 700,7200,7000 , I have used mirror less cameras , but like the feel of mirrored cameras. I am sure it has to do with age and some form of loyalty to history . Lenses vary with time and place, there are far to many to list,an I have named my current favorites earlier .Feedback
Patience, find a place that you like and check it often to see what the weather acts like there, if you see potential , keep monitoring it.Eventually the shot will appear, take as many shots as you can as fast as you can .Good luck,Enjoy the time !
