The photo was taken in late February 2018 at Waimea Bay Beach Park on the island of Oahu KawaiiTime
This is by far one of a few photographs I have taken which seems to have a ability to take me back to that moment in time. It was around 11:00 am on a wonderful breezy late February 75 degree day.Lighting
This was taken in mid day and was taking some shot with a new wide angle lens and since it there was not much in terms of shadows given the time of day I was not expecting much until I turned aroundEquipment
I was just returning to photography after several years of letting life getting in the way of my passion and the trip to Oahu gave me the reason to go out and buy a Nikon 5600 and an Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II DX ED AF-S lens with a CPL filter.Inspiration
This was my first outing since getting back into photography and it really was more intended to get myself comfortable with the camera and lens. But I just could not stop looking at the sky and the streaky clouds, Ocean, lava rock and green plants and overall feeling I got from being there. I framed a couple of shots and they were ok but keep walking around and looking for the shot . I found this one in the view finder that feeling you get when "this is the one" is in the viewfinder hitEditing
I have always heard and tried to follow the advise of get what you want in the camera and make small changers in post. And I really did just that with this one, just small changes in contrast and things like highlights and shadows. I really did not to overpower the colors and really just wanted it I to look like i saw it through my viewfinderIn my camera bag
I am using a Nikon 810 and a Nikon - AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm for most shots but I also keep a AF-S Fisheye NIKKOR 8-15mm and of course my 85mm, 50mm prime and 200-500 zoom. And for the Nikon 5600, my old friend still accompanies on most tripsFeedback
I think what I would say here is when your out shooting and you something gets your attention and you get the nagging feeling but have a hard time seeing the shot when you are look it, keeping looking at it and shooting it from different angles, levels, lens..... and it will be there
