Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside a random restaurant which happened to have a red umbrella propped up on one of their alfresco dining tables.

Time

It was probably around 5pm when the daylight was not too harsh nor too dark to capture the vivid red color of the umbrella and still able to show a peep of the exterior facade of the buildings.

Lighting

The lamp under the umbrella provided the light required to show the lines.

Equipment

All I used was the front camera of my Samsung S8 mobile phone.

Inspiration

This was such a random shot of inspiration! I wanted to capture the underneath of the umbrella cos the lines and color were so pretty but it was hard to capture the angle I wanted even when squatted at a low level, so I decided to turn the lens to the front camera and lay it flat on the table and it gave me the precise angle I wanted without sacrificing my back (haa!).

Editing

I used Snapseed to do some slight editing to brighten the photo and bring out the vividness of the colors.

In my camera bag

My Olympus OM-D and Samsung mobile phone. These 2 always give great pictures and I don't have much post-processing to do.

Feedback

The front lens of a mobile phone is not just for selfies! Though it may have lower resolution but it gives interesting angles and perspectives to a place/object, so play with it!
