Location
This photo was taken in downtown Gilbert, Arizona in June, 2018.Time
It was about 10 PM, and I was walking around the downtown area. The tower dominated the skyline, and I took a series of black and white shots from beneath.Lighting
The tower was lit with floodlights from underneath, and it created a terrific contrast with the dark night.Equipment
The camera was a Panasonic DC-FZ80, and I used no tripod or external flash.Inspiration
I am an amateur photographer, and I was following advice to take as many pictures of as many things as possible. I was experimenting with monochrome that evening, as it seemed to be a good medium for the contrast between the night and the floodlights. I also was inspired to change my eye level and pay more attention to things above and below my normal visual field. Looking up enabled me to capture the height of the tower, and created an interesting perspective.Editing
I don't recall much post-processing on this image; perhaps I reduced the highlights. In my camera bag
I have been using the Lumix point and shoot, but also utilize a Nikon 3200 for some photo opportunities.Feedback
I don't feel qualified to give too much advice, as I feel that I am still learning every day, but I have had some success by specifically looking for different perspectives on everyday sights. Shooting from low or high often creates an interesting angle, and I find that this enhances the end product.
