This is my nephew. He is sweet, kind and funny. He loves to jump and listen to music. He’s observant and in constant motion. He loves his special people deeply. And I adore him with all my heart.
He also happens to have autism which causes him to be non-verbal among other things. His vocabulary is limited and he uses it to ask for the things he loves the most. Inside him there is a world of non spoken words that very few of us get to see. I am one of the lucky few.
I created this image thinking about what he might want to tell us if he could. His powerful cape contains words from several songs. His mind moves so fast that his body dissolves as he takes a brave leap into this strange, strange world of language and noise. I see his strength. I see the courage inside. And I admire him for that.
