This crow seen 'skating' on the frozen boating lake in Regent's Park, London in a blizzard, has a plumage abnormality that causes it to lose the pigment in some of its feathers. Natural History Museum expert Hein van Grouw has established that the cause is malnutrition. Crows living in the park have adapted to eating an 'urban junk food' diet, mainly consisting of bread, rather than a natural diet, but the leucistic plumage indicates that they are lacking essential nutrients.
