I really enjoy to combine portrait photography and abandoned places. The combination allows so many new possibilities to tell stories. You can find more works on my website.

Behind The Lens

This image was taken in an abandoned former russian military headquarter in East Germany.
We were there for many hours during daytime to catch different light situations in different parts of this locations.
As usual i worked with available light only to create an natural and harmonious atmosphere.
My Fujifilm X-T2 and a 35mm 1.4 lense, on a tripod.
I love the grace and elegance of ballet. So I was looking for ways to put it in the spotlight. This location really had many opportunities to stage such a shooting. I took a look on many ballet and dancing shootings to get inspired. We decided do try some nude shots to focus even more on the poses and the body shapes.
Just a black and white conversion and some minor adjustments. My goal is always to get a good shot into the camera so i don't have to do much post-processing. It's about photography and not editing skills for me.
In my camera bag
I try to work with as less equipment as possible in most situations. So it's mainly my camera and 2-3 lenses.
On the photographers side this is not a hard challenge to get a shot like this. You need a exciting location as a backdrop and some lovely window light. The rest is up to the skills of your ballerina. As always when it comes to nudity respect and communication are really important to make the model comfortable.
