Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at my home in South Africa. I am a self thought photographer and I love taking pictures of anything and everything. I love learning and being creative.

Time

It was actually around 14:00pm. On my portch. Not the best time of the day but the light was just beautiful.

Lighting

On my portch I have an amazing influx of natural light. Natural light is my favorite to work with. I do t have a studio so I work with what I got.

Equipment

I actually used my iPhone X on portrait mode. I really love this phone and the camera. They say the best pictures are taken with the canera you have on you

Inspiration

Wine….… Ha ha ha. In South Africa the Protea is our national flower and there is a Wine farm in Cape Town that has a wine named after the Protea. I was drinking the wine and I happened to receive a bunch of proteas earlier in the week. And I thought let me bring them together

Editing

I used Photoshop express on my phone.

In my camera bag

Canon 500D 18-55mm Canon lens 70-300mm Canon lens 50mm F1.8 Canon lens And my tripod Selfie stick and my macro lens for my phone

Feedback

I would say the lighting and the positioning of the subject is important. For this specific shot I wanted the focal point to be on the detail inside the protea and the background to be blurred.
