Aloes flower in winter in South Africa. This shot was taken in the Cape Point Nature Reserve near Cape Town, South Africa. It was technically a little tricky: the birds were moving rapidly and often from shadow to light and the sun was moving in and out of cloud. I was working at f-5.6 to isolate the subject and jacked the ISO up to 1250 to get sufficient shutter speed.
