Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in my neighbours yard at ogwuashi-uku, Delta state, in the southern part of Nigeria.

Time

This is probably one of my best images, I took a challenge upon myself to take photographs of flowering weed plant, so in search of these weed plants, I spotted the shy plant (mimosa pudica) in my neighbours lawn, then I quickly rushed home, grabbed my Nikon D60 camera with a tamron 70mm-300mm lens. It wasn't much a challenge as I only had to lie flat on the ground and shoot. This image was taken Saturday 5th may 2018 at about 8:48 am.

Lighting

I wanted this image to have a soft and subtle lighting, so I simply went with a natural lightly (sun)

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Nikon D60 on a tamron 70mm-300mm, no other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

Beauty can be found anywhere, so I found beauty in flowering weed plants. These weeds are always been ran over by mowers, so I thought why not give it a special place in our heart before running it over? And then this image happened.

Editing

Usually these images need less of post production as I have already done most work in the camera, all I had to do was contrasting, increasing the saturation, cropping and then watermarking, all done using Adobe photoshop CS6.

In my camera bag

Most times all I usually carry is a Nikon D60 quite easy to carry around) and a tamron 70mm-300mm lens. And yes cleaning gears (most times I lie on the floor). Because this images are better done macro, one needs to get closer every time.

Feedback

Most times trying to find these flowers could be quite cumbersome and challenging as one needs to have a very good eyesight on the ground, paying attention is the key. Carrying your gears around would always come in handy as you might find these weeds anywhere. These kind of images doesn't necessarily need big equipment as it can be done even with the smallest of cameras, but getting macro would always do the trick. Lighting wouldn't be a problem as these images can simply be done with natural lighting. Post production matters less as most of the work is simply done in the camera. And having a great position matters to how it is to be seen, so ensure you go down low on the ground.
