Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was captured on waste ground near my home

Time

It was taken in the morning

Lighting

The day was overcast and humid which gave a light but subdued lighting

Equipment

I used a canon 1200D, 70-300mm lens and a tripod. There was no need to use flash as the light was adequate. Due to the day being overcast I didn't require a filter

Inspiration

I love ladybirds and think they make good subjects. The more detail that can be captured the better. This ladybird was sat for quite some time on the flower head. They are usually quite shy so using the long lens helped with this image.

Editing

In post processing I cropped the image which I had taken in a portrait orientatio I added a vignette as the background was still quite messy and distracting for me

In my camera bag

I always take out with me my 18-55mm kit lens, telephoto 70-300mm lens and my 35mm USM lens, cable release, tripod, spare batteries as I am always out for hours

Feedback

I used the 70-300mm lens which suited my needs as I could capture insects/bugs without getting too close and disturbing them this enabled me to take the time with this shot and to capture the detail you see
