Casey, you have a great eye and a knack for editing. I see in this photo some of the same issues I have with hdr. As the foreground becomes better defined, the sky seems to deteriorate. Seem like the cloud formations we love do worse with the same amount of contrast we like in the foreground. I've had similar views with the clouds becoming way too dark in the centers, while being the correct brightness on the edges, and blown out in other places. I'm starting to work on the HDR landscapes in two files, one for the foreground, another for the sky, and compositing them at the end.

I like the moodiness of this image, and I applaud your ability to distill some of your images down to a dominant two or three color palette. That's a wonderful skill and it makes for some powerful images. Keep up the good work.
