Beautiful. Also reminds me of the agonies I've had getting a murmation of these from my feeders haha. They are beautiful pesky little winged ones!

Behind The Lens

Location

while traveling full time in a motor home, we wintered along the Oregon coast at Waldport. This pink blooming hedge overlooked the bay and gave some great photo opportunities each day.

Time

On this morning about three starlings were flying around a pole on one of the dock piers and I went and got my camera and went outside. It looked as though they might be interested in nesting in a hole they found at the top of one dock pole. I took several shots and then this one landed on the hedge in front of the motorhome.

Lighting

The way the morning sun showed off the bright colors made this my favorite shot of the day.

Equipment

Canon EOS 5D Mark lll, Aperture f/7.1?ISO 320?Shutter 1/125?Focal Length 600/1?

Inspiration

birds and other wildlife frequent the bay where we were staying and all of the wildlife is an inspiration to get out and shoot

Editing

in post processing I did blur the top and bottom a bit to give focus to the middle and the starling

In my camera bag

my regular lens is a canon EF 24-105mm with a polarizer filter and uv filter. I also carry ND filter and depending on how much hiking I have a sigma 150-600 zoom and a tripod

Feedback

I try different setting and apertures while shooting and take lots of shots which is an advantage of the digital world to shoot lots and keep only the best . My advice is just get out and shoot. Have fun! So many interesting subjects and I love that it gets me outside whether in a city or rural setting
