When I was visiting St Lucia, these bold little birds would arrive on balconies to be fed. Not wanting to leave a mess for the staff, I had placed some protective covering on the floor before putting out watermelon and crumbs. It was unsafe to leave a balcony door open as the bullfinches had learnt to steal packets of sugar from the rooms.
