The first American Robin egg of four hatched this week right outside our front door. He's brand new and already hungry. I stuck my camera up to see how the eggs were doing and this was the photo I had when I pulled it down.

Location
This photo was taken on my front porch. The American Robins built a nest inside our porch light.Time
The photo was taken near the end of the day. I made a point to take a picture of the nest every day and to check how the eggs were progressing. We had gotten home from an overnight trip and I immediately went inside to get my camera to see how our eggs were doing. It was early evening around 6pm.Lighting
The end of the day was nearing and the sun had moved to the front of our house where it illuminated the nest perfectly.Equipment
It was shot on a Nikon D3300 with an 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
When the robins were building the nest in our front porch light, I asked my husband to please not take it down as it was an opportunity to get some wonderful photos. Every day I checked the nest and eventually we had some eggs. We went on an overnight trip and as soon as we got home, I grabbed my camera to see how the eggs were doing. I held my camera up over my head to snap the photo and when I brought it back down, this was the photo I had.Editing
There is no post processing done to this image. It is exactly as it was taken. In my camera bag
I am still an amateur so my camera bag does not consist of many things yet. I currently have my Nikon D3300 and 18-55mm lens. My bag is still pretty light but I am hoping to add some more lens and equipment as I grow as a photographer.Feedback
I haven't been taking photographs with a nice camera for very long, but I have spoken with many professional photographers. The biggest thing I have learned from my experience and from others is patience, a good eye and a little bit of luck. I feel like these three things are key to capturing a good photo. That and practice. A lot of practice.
