Location
This photo was taken at 'Golden Temple'- Amritsar, India. Clicked hand held at 1/30 sec as I was not caring the tripod with me since I was not sure whether it was allowed inside the premises. I'm a self-taught photographer, always trying to do some new things/ tricks with my camera. This image, I count as one of my favorite images.Time
I wanted to click some images during the sunset/ dusk time and I was planning out for images with sun rays reflecting from the temple. Unfortunately, I could not get such images. After this disappointment, I was walking around to see if I could get some images with night sky. This was my first trip to this place and I was not aware of what kind of illumination they do during night time. This photo was taken on August 1, 2017 at 20: 07 hrs.Lighting
As it started becoming dark, they slowly started putting on the lights on the structures, one by one. Once all the lights were put on, what was seen in front of me a heart melting scene, I wanted all this drama to come down in the final image story as well as making the story intriguing.Equipment
This was captured on Nikon D 5200, (a basic beginner's camera) with 18-55 mm kit lens at f/3.8, SS1/30 and ISO 32000. It is a single shot and not a merging of multiple images. No filters, Flash or tripod was used.Inspiration
For a long time, I had not done night photography. I was looking out to shoot Star-trails or Milky ways by visiting near-by 'out of city' area to avoid light pollution. But here, what I saw was just breath taking and could not be ignored.Editing
Post processing was mainly done in ACR, (Camera Raw), with minimum processing in PS.In my camera bag
Now I've shifted to a new generation advance mirrorless camera. While traveling, I try to keep weight of my camera bag as low as possible Normally I carry a lens depending upon the type of photography I intend to do during that trip. If I'm going out for landscapes or milky way or star trails- I carry wide angle lenses, if going to shoot during Monsoon, Macro lens is must. One common zoom lens I carry irrespective of what I'm going to shoot is 24-240mm, that keeps my options open for any genres of photography. I also carry some 'must' accessories like Extra cards, batteries, chargers, wireless remote, ND and polarizing filters, camera and lens cleaning tools and pocket torch. Concentrated food bars takes care of my hunger.Feedback
You should be ready for any type of situation, any time, to capture that moment. But keep yourself safe. Do not try to take unnecessary risks. Your life is important -for you and your loved ones. Try to do things differently. Your camera and lenses are important, (not necessarily high-end with technologically advanced.) but the eye behind the camera is more important.
