Location
Frozen presents the North Saskatchewan River in mid-winter. It is frozen but, the ice is always moving, and it can be loud. It creaks, cracks and moans. I am standing under a very busy bridge every minute sound echoes.Time
It was predawn just before the sun broke the treeline. I wanted the blues and the oranges of the dawn in the photo. The orange in the foreground is from the lights on the bridge.Lighting
Beautiful oranges and blues on this cold crisp morning.Equipment
A Canon 7d MkII, Tamron SP 85mm F/1.8 Di VC Lens. I love using this lens for all kinds of shot. I used a twenty-second long exposure and a tripod to make the image.Inspiration
The light and the jagged shapes in the ice.Editing
I used a polarizing filter when I took the shot to bring out the colours. I used Lightroom to bring out more colours; the image has a blue-orange look.In my camera bag
Tamron 85mm F/1.8 a must in my bag I love that lens. My Canon 7d Mk. II. I would like to move up to a full frame body.Feedback
Patience. I had to wait for awhile to get the sky the way I wanted when I made this picture. Also, a cyclist is riding down a path on the opposite bank of the river with a light.
