Our Anniversary Trip to see Niagara Falls, July 2017. This was a photo I shot at sunrise from hotel window. On left is American side with the New York Waterfalls. On right is Canadian side with the famous HorseShoe Niagara Falls. It was stunning to watch the mist rising in unbelievably mystical, beautiful shapes and forms, with prismic effect from the rays of the sun. Most interesting is the silhouette of the "locks" in the far background (right). At night the "locks" are turned down in order to regulate the gushing tons of water (to prevent further erosion of the rocks, waterbanks...). Also visible in far right background, we can see in minuscule size, the sand "scow" or barge that had gotten "stuck" in the small islet in 1918.
(Interesting story, see http:--www.niagarafrontier.com-scow.html)
