I took this photo at an animal sanctuary in Davie,Fl. I am a Wildlife and portrait photographer and I love creating stunning images even if not on an expensive safariTime
I woke up and had planned ago visit the sanctuary that Saturday. I had been so excited all week long to see and capture photographs of all these amazing animals you don’t get to witness everyday.Lighting
I was shooting through a glass window, so lighting was definitely key. I was trying to make sure I didn’t get any glares within the lens and keep everything as lit as possible in the frame.Equipment
I went in with my whole camera bag not knowing what I would need since it was a new place for me. I ended up using my Canon T6I body and changing between my 50 mm and 50-200 Zoom lensInspiration
I love capturing the pure emotion of the animals I photograph. This animal had a defect in his hind leg and didn’t get up for a long time. Everyone gave up on taking a picture him and I being the last one there captured this shot of him stretching his legs and scratching on the tree branch.Editing
I actually had a quick post process. I am a firm believer of getting it right in the field rather then doing more work in post. I simply touched up the highlights and brought up the vibrancy and some sharpening was all that was needed. In my camera bag
In my camera bag I carry a variety of lenses. I carry my 50mm, 85mm, 50-200mm, 18-55mm, macro and wide angle lens attachments. I also carry around a variety of filters as well as my reflector and my two tripods, one a mono pod and the other a three legged tripod.Feedback
No animal will ever be photogrpahed in the same way. I will always give that advice when it comes to photographing wildlife because they are so unpredictable. The only advice I can give to my fellow photographers is always stay. No matter how long it takes and how frustrated you are, you never know if “the shot” will happen in the next 5 minutes. Always stay and stick it through until you are happy about the images you’ve captured. You will never regret staying the extra time and will always regret giving up. You’ve got this photographers!
