Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in an urban park near a pond. The butterfly was right next to a sidewalk and never moved while I took my shots.

Time

I think this shot was taken in the afternoon.

Lighting

A cloudy day.

Equipment

My Canon PowerShot XS 530H, no tripod or flash. Very handy little camera.

Inspiration

I try not to ignore wildlife when they strike a poze, wave their hand in the air and yell "TAKE MY PICTURE". He was three feet from me, smiling like a guilty baby. The color treatment was one of my wild ideas that others seem to appreciate.

Editing

You can achieve a similar effect in Photoshop Fix using a brush and first de-saturating and brightening the areas to be colored, then using a blended brush for coloring.

In my camera bag

(I don't have a bag). When I go on a hunt, I'll have a Canon PowerShot, a Yashica Minister III, or a Canon film SLR.
