Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo during a two week trip to the Canadian Rockies, where my wife and I visited (and marveled at the amazing beauty of) Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Glacier National Parks.

Time

It was late morning, on a hike around the perimeter of Emerald Lake.

Lighting

The lighting was just there, the canoeists were just there, and all I had to do was frame and shoot. Tremendous luck.

Equipment

Handheld, Nikon D610, 24-120mm.

Inspiration

I think anybody who would have been at that spot at that moment would have reached for a camera. It was a no-brainer.

Editing

In Lightroom I applied a graduated ND filter to the upper part of the image and some sharpening and a bit of saturation to the entire image.

In my camera bag

My basic kit is my Nikon D610, the 24-120 mm lens (and sometimes a Sigma 12-24mm lens) and a Giotto tripod with a ball head.
